The moment
On a federal holiday, the kids were off school — but work didn’t stop. The Circles Community Manager at a major American multinational energy corporation saw an opportunity hiding in the middle of an ordinary Monday.
Circles support in action
What started as a suggestion from corporate affairs became, in the hands of the Circles Community Manager, something far more imaginative. Under the banner of “Red, White, and Woo-Hoo,” 32 kids of all ages spent President’s Day exploring their parents workplace in a way that felt exciting and entirely their own.
The full day of programming included:
- Behind-the-scenes tours through spaces their parents see every day—the service elevator, Operations Center, IT Café and fitness center—turning the unfamiliar into something to discover
- A structured day with moments of energy and creativity, from open-mic jokes that filled the room with laughter to an ice cream party that kept kids engaged throughout
- Quieter moments that included a guided mindfulness exercise where kids paused to imagine breathing in a sunflower
- Interactive activities from start to finish, creating a day that felt seamless for parents and memorable for their children

The human impact
- Gave working parents a real solution on a day when childcare options are scarce
- Turned the workplace into somewhere a child could feel curious, safe and genuinely delighted
- Deepened employees’ connection to where they work, through the eyes of their kids
- Showed that community management, at its best, makes the unexpected feel effortless
