A member called to arrange to send her father, who lived out of state, some flowers for his 70th birthday.
Upon calling Circles, she asked her Concierge for advice on what type of flowers to send. Concierge asked a few questions to find out what her father's hobbies were. Concierge suggested sending a gift basket filled with gifts related to his favorite hobbies. Upon hearing that the member's father loved jazz and enjoyed reading, Concierge suggested including some new and old Jazz CDs as well as a book about Jazz in Chicago. The member loved the idea, but was concerned that her father would already have the CDs as his collection was quite extensive. She and the Concierge chose six interesting CDs and a book. Then, the Concierge suggested to add dinner to the gift and confirmed a reservation. Arrangements were made to have the basket shipped and the dinner paid for by the customer. The restaurant even agreed to have the band announce that it was his father’s birthday and they were thrilled to be part of his night.
A few days later Concierge received an email saying that the customer’s dad loved the gift and that the CDs purchased were ones he did not already have in his collection. The customer loved that Concierge was able to help make her dad’s special day an unforgettable one even though they lived so far from each other.
